Get to know me

Just Dog was created out of my love for my own dog, Juniper. Adding Juniper to my life quickly taught me how fulfilling it is to spend my days with dogs. I am lucky enough to have found a way to do that. I have never questioned that decision.

I studied Environmental Science at SUNY Oneonta with the hope of doing field work. Though I am not using my degree for the betterment of the environment, I am outside with fauna (kind of)! You may see mention of plants, birds, and the changing seasons with a little too much detail in your dog’s report cards, now you know why.

Working with dogs was always in the cards for me. I was, in fact, named after my sister’s Barbie Pet Pals Courtney. Don’t ask me why my parents let that happen. I was also the recipient of the Animal Lover’s Award from my pre-school graduation. That little girl playing in the sandbox with Laverne the chicken would be proud.

Growing up, I would often pet sit for friends and family. That continued into my early adulthood. One of my favorite early client’s was my philosophy professor’s dog Agent 99. My professional experience started at a boarding facility shortly after I got Juniper. I helped run play groups, provided enrichment activities for dogs, and took part in all other aspects of care. After that, I began walking dogs full time in 2022 under another walker. With her blessing and help, I started Just Dog in May of 2023. Now, I am happy to spend my days doing group walks. Being outside in the sun (or clouds) with a bunch of dogs around me is perfect. I hope your dog joins in the fun.

Best,

Courtney Walsh
